What an enjoyable conversation with Ronnie Smith, MD, of Vidalia, GA. This podcast is not just an exploration in to Dr. Smith's career as a physician and entrepreneur, but also a philsophical expose in prejudices.
Ronnie is a country doctor - by his own declaration. And he has the drawl to back it up! But while many, if not most, in today's society would hear this Southern man talk and prejudge him with all of the requisite 'Southern' tropes, to spend time with Ronnie is to be in the presence of genius.
We learn about his upbringing in Cochran, GA, why he wanted to become a physician, and the path he took to get where he is today. We learn of the many 'firsts' that Ronnie can claim relative to medical procedures, as well as his brilliantly simple approach to providing care to his patients. That simplicity has not only served his patients well, but also been the catalyst for the formation of several companies in the healthcare space.
